Commonly referred to as Lanzarote Airport, the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport (ACE) offers both domestic and international flights to travelers to and from Arrecife, Spain. In 2018, it handled 7,327,019 passengers coming from and going to many European airports, as well as to other Spanish airports. The idea of building an aerodrome was hatched in the 1930s when it became evident that the island needed to connectwith other islands and the mainland. In 1970, when the new terminal was finished, a mural by local artist Caesar Manrique entitled ‘Lanzarote’ became its centerpiece and as a tribute the airport was renamed after the local artist in 2019.
